In order to channelize the energies of youth including police jawans towards constructive and productive purposes rather than inclination towards anti-social activities like the menace of drug addiction, Dr. S.D. Singh Jamwal, IPS IGP Jammu Zone today inaugurated new modern gymnasium at DPL Udhampur in the presence of Sh. Virender Sharma, IPS DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Sh. Rayees Mohammad Bhat,IPS SSP Udhampur, Sh. Faisal Qureshi, Addl. SP, Sh. Kameshwar Puri, DySP Hqrs, Sh. Shakeel Rehman, DySP DAR and other officers/jawans.
While speaking on the occasion IGP said that the drugs & substance abuse affects the capabilities and energies of the youth and it is the responsibility of all stakeholders to work together and eradicate the growing menace. The best way to keep the youth away from the menace of drug addiction is to channelize their energies towards sports activities. The initiative of Udhampur Police towards this social responsibility is worthwhile and will go a long way in engaging the local youth including police personnel towards sports activities and thereby keeping them physically and mentally fit to meet future challenges. He also referred to the stressful and prone nature of police duties and said that such initiatives would help to keep personnel mentally and physically fit.
IGP also inspected the drug de-addiction centre and other construction/upgradation
works going on in DPL Udhampur. He also chaired a quick crime review meeting to take stock of crime management issues and directed officers to focus on NDPS, miscreants, absconders and traffic violators.
