The SIT said in its charge sheet that Honeypreet had conspired to incite violence in Panchkula and she had allegedly sent Rs 2 crore for this purpose. She had also conspired to help Gurmeet Ram Rahim evade the law by fleeing the spot.
Ambala, Dec 5: Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s adoped daughter, Honeypreet Insan, who is in jail for allegedly inciting violence when her father was convicted in two rape cases, has written a letter to the jail administration saying she doesn’t have the money to hire lawyers. She demanded that she be allowed to draw money from her three bank accounts that were seized when she was absconding.
Honeypreet wrote that Panchkula SIT filed a charge sheet in the incident and the trial started, but she had no money to hire a counsel. She wrote that if her accounts were not released, she would not be able to hire an attorney to represent her in the court.
“The SIT has filed the charge sheet in the case against me. Now, the trial court would hear the matter. However, I don’t have enough money to hire a lawyer to defend myself in the court of law. Therefore, I request the concerned authorities to allow access to my bank accounts which have been seized,” Honeypreet wrote in her letter.
Honeypreet had absconded after the violence and escaped police custody for 38 days. Police had seized Honeypreet’s bank accounts along with Dera accounts, reports said. .

38 people had died in Panchkula and Sirsa after Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insan was convicted by a special CBI court of two counts of rape. The court handed him a sentence of 20 years in jail for raping two Dera Sacha Sauda women. He is currently lodge in Rohtak jail.
Honeypreet will be produced in court on Thursday (December 7) when the police will hand her a copy of the charge sheet filed in the Panchkula violence. Honeypreet alias Priyanka Taneja was arrested along with her close aide Sukhdeep Kaur from Zirakpur-Patiala road in Punjab on October 3. Honeypreet topped a list of 43 people “wanted” by the Haryana Police in connection with the violence.
