Srinagar, Nov 30: Police on Thursday claimed that a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) commander was killed in a brief encounter on Sopore outskirts in Baramulla district of north Kashmir.
A police spokesman in a statement, said that police along with 22 RR and 179, 92 and 177 Battalions CRPF acted upon specific information regarding the presence of militants in Kumar Mohalla Sagipora today and launched a cordon and search operation.
“During searches, militant hiding in a Nallah near water point of Kumar Mohalla Sagipora fired upon the joint search party. The fire was retaliated in which the militant was gunned down,” he said, adding that the militant was later identified as Muzamil from Pakistan, affiliated with LeT outfit, Commander of North Kashmir.
“One AK rifle, 05 AK magazines, 124 AK rounds, 01 UBGL, 05 UBGL rounds and other ammunition was recovered from the encounter site,” he said.
