Ganderbal: In an another example of communal harmony in Ganderbal, where Muslim residing in the Wussan area of Ganderbal helped to perform the last rites of a Kashmiri Pandit man.
As per the reports available with Kashmir Age, Hundreds of people, mostly Muslims, came together in the Wussan village to perform the last rites of a local Kashmiri Pandit who died in area where the Pandit family had been living on this Muslim dominant and when one of Pandit man in the family passed away, all the arrangements for the last rites were made by their Muslim neighbours.
Spreading a message of unity the Muslim community in the Wussan village helped perform the last rites of Moti-Lal Son of Arzan Nath as per Hindu rituals.
We were equally saddened to lose an elderly person in our neighbourhood. We gathered and performed the last rites without considering what faith we follow,” said Basheer Ahmad.
He said Hindus and Muslims are like brothers. We always looking after one another in this village. After all we are human first.
“This is true Kashmir, this is our culture and we share a brotherhood. We do not believe in duality or divisive politics. We share composite culture,” said another local Pandit.
“Majority of people present in the last rituals were Muslims. We performed his last rites and live here in peace and harmony,” Basheer Ahmad Said.
