Hyderabad has started to feel the winter in every sense, with the minimum temperature on Saturday dipping to 15 degrees Celsius. This, according to the Indian Meteorological Department, Hyderabad, was a sharp drop of 4 degrees Celsius from the previous night’s temperature. Incidentally, November 11 was the coldest day of November last year, when the city recorded 12.4 degrees Celsius. The coldest day in November in the last 10 years, was November 25, 2007, when the city shivered at 11.3 degrees Celsius.
The all-time record for the coldest day in November, however, goes to November 26, 1964, when the thermometer literally froze at 7.4 degree Celsius. Foggy conditions prevailed in some areas of the city during the morning hours over the last few days. According to IMD officials, the minimum temperature was likely to hover around 15 degrees Celsius for the next couple of days as well. IMD Hyderabad Head (weather forecasting) K Nagaratna said the dip in minimum temperature was due to the blowing of North and North Westerly winds across Telangana. This was accompanied by a low-pressure formation in the Bay of Bengal, she said. The maximum temperature meanwhile has been hovering around 30 degrees Celsius and is likely to remain in the same range this week.
