Sri Lankan Navy apprehended four Indian fishermen and confiscated a mechanized fishing boat for allegedly straying into its territorial waters and indulging in illegal poaching, today. State fisheries officials said the incarcerated fishermen hailed from Kottaipattinam Coastal hamlet in Pudukottai district. Fishermen had ventured into the sea in more than 100 fishing boats from Kottaipattinam yesterday and while they were fishing near the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL), the Sri Lankan Naval Patrol crafts chased away the Indian fishing boats. The Lankan naval men arrested four fishermen, seized their fishing trawler and fishing gears. They were taken to Kankesanthurai Naval camp for interrogation.
