Kashmir needed a high end hotel like Khyber: Sec Tourism
The Khyber, Himalayan Resort & Spa, Gulmarg honored Travel Agents with The Khyber Travel Agents’ Excellence awards and celebrated partner success in an august gathering at Gulmarg.
Secretary Tourism, Sarmad Hafeez, Director Tourism, Mahmood Shah, CEO Gulmarg, Hanif Balki and MD Cable Car Corporation, Shamim Wani graced the occasion as Guests of Honour.
Speaking on the contribution by the travel trade for their ongoing support in promoting Gulmarg and the resort, Umar Tramboo, MD, Pinnacle Resorts Pvt. Ltd, promoter of The Khyber Himalayan Resort & Spa, Gulmarg, said, “The Khyber Travel Agents’ Excellence awards are an acknowledgement of the support and effort by our partners in the travel industry to promote Gulmarg and The Khyber.
“We are truly thankful to the state government for doing its utmost in promoting Kashmir at all the travel meets and for putting its heart and soul in to the promotional material that is being published across all media,” he said.
Secretary Tourism Sarmad Hafeez in his speech said Gulmarg needed Khyber and not that Khyber needed Gulmarg. “Rather Kashmir needed Khyber,” he said.
He said the Khyber is today an iconic resort not only in the state of J&K but is recognized for its excellence by guests from across the world.
The other guest speakers said that since its opening in 2012, Khyber broke a new dawn for visitors to enjoy the legendary beauty of the picturesque Kashmir valley in luxurious surroundings and have been a boon both for the State Government and Travel Agents.
Later, in a glittering ceremony at The Khyber, the management applauded the travel agents and partners from the Kashmir Valley recognizing their efforts and felicitating them with The Khyber Travel Agents’ Excellence Awards – 2016-17.
“We look forward to your continued support and hope that the situation in Kashmir improves in the coming months and we are back to attracting tourists from across the world to our beautiful destination- the warmest place on earth,” Omar said.
