Governor N.N. Vohra, Chairman Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), presented a school bus to Rahat Ghar and Training Institute, Chandilora, Tangmarg, to enable the children of the Institute to undertake educational trips.
Rahat Ghar and Training Institute, established by the Guild of Service, New Delhi, is engaged in the rehabilitation of orphans and widows by providing them boarding, lodging, educational and vocational training facilities. Presently, 70 children are being educated at the Tangmarg Institute.
In an earlier visit to the Institute and consequent discussions with Dr. Girija Dhar, Chairperson and Ms Meera Khanna, Vice President, Guild of Service had informed the Governor about the need for providing transport facility for the children of the Institute.
The bus was presented at Raj Bhavan, Srinagar, in the presence of several dignitaries, including Shri Abbas Wani, MLA Tangmarg; Shri Umang Narula, Chief Executive Officer, Shrine Board; Dr. Girija Dhar and Ms Meera Khanna Chairperson and Vice President of the Guild of Service; Sh. Bhupinder Kumar, Addl CEO, Shrine Board; and Dr. Nissar Bakshi, Ms Neerja Mattoo and Ms Roma Wani, who are members of the Advisory Committee. Ms Jaya Iyer, Project Coordinator and Mr Sajad Ahmed, Administrative Officer, Rahat Ghar and Training Institute, Baramulla were also present.
