Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shopian AS Dinkar said no damage was caused due to the “mysterious blast”.
Suspected militants on Thursday lobbed a grenade at the residence of a legislator of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. A source said that grenade was hurled at the residence of MLA Wachi in Zainapora area of the district.
“The grenade landed in the premises of the residence and exploded,” he said, adding that there was no report of any damage to life or the property. Reports said that the policemen deployed for security duty fired several round in the air following the blast.

No damage has been reported. But security men posted there have fired several round in air,” he said. The legislator and his family were not present in the house at the time of the blast, said Dinkar.
