Continuing crackdown against the encroachment of state land, district authorities today removed encroachment on 11 kanal land during separate drives.
On the direction of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, a team headed by Assistant Commissioner Revenue Rajouri Abdul Qayoom Mir, Police and officials of Public Works Department removed the encroachment on 2.5 kanal land at Dhandkote.
The encroached land had stalled the construction work of Dhandkote-Soukadgali road for past some years.
In another case, 8.5 kanal encroached land of Government Middle School Ujjan was retrieved from the illegal possession of locals by joint efforts of officials of Revenue, Police and Education Departments.
The land will be used for construction of play ground and upgrading of school infrastructure. The fencing work on the land was started by the education department soon after getting the possession.
Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, while informing about the issue of encroachment in the district, said that State land at many prime locations has been illegally occupied or mutated to benefit some private persons. He urged such persons to voluntarily vacate state land in the interest of the Public at large.
