Two militants and as many army men were killed and four soldiers injured in a fierce encounter at Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday.
A senior police officer told that army’s 13 RR and SOG late last night launched cordon-and-search at Rakh-e- Hajin village following inputs about the presence of some LeT militants.
“As such the joint team of forces intensified the searches on wee hours, the hiding militants opened fire triggering off a fierce gunfight between the two sides”, the officer said.
In the ensuing encounter so far two militants have been killed and their identity are being ascertained, the officer said.
He said that six soldiers also sustained serious bullet wounds and have been immediately evacuated to military hospital for treatment.
However, two among the six soldiers declared brought dead by the doctors on arrival, the officer said.
