Paying floral tributes to Father of the Nation on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, Congress today held an extraordinary meeting of Senior Party Leaders and workers to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti at Congress Party Headquarters Srinagar.
The Party leaders and workers highlighted the sacrifices of Mahatma Gandhi and described him as a apostle of peace and best human being, who even sacrificed his life for the Nation. The meeting was presided over by J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President G.A. Mir.
Prominent among other who paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi included Former PCC President Peerzada Mohd. Syed, Former Minister Taj Mohi U Din, MLC Mohd Musaffar Parray, Farooq Andrabi, Surinder Singh Channi, Irfan Naqib and others.
Addressing the Party workers, G.A. Mir paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and recalled his selfless services to the Nation, saying that the best way to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi is to follow his philosophy of non-violence, fight against suppression and rights of the under privileged sections in the Country, as that will be the great tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.
The prolonged fight and monumental contribution of Mahatma Gandhi to the freedom struggle will always be remembered by all the country men, leading them at the path peace and harmony, G.A. Mir said.
Adding that the Gandhian philosophy are relevant for all the times to come, the Nation will continue remain indebted to the Father of the Nation for his fight against injustice, racism.
Speaking on the Occasion former PCC President Peerzada Mohd Syed and Taj Mohi U Din paid glowing tributes to Mahatma Gandhi describing him as a best human being, a man of conscience, who devoted his entire life to the Nation securing freedom from the colonial rule of British.
Among others who addressed the meeting included MLC Mohd Muzffar Parray, Farooq Andrabi, Ab. Gani Khan, Khem Lata Wakhloo, Shamema Iqbal, Zahid Hussain Jan, Irfan Naqib, Sahil Farooq, Imtiyaz Khan, Farhat Qureshi PCC Office bearers, District Presidents and prominent Party activists.
Pradesh Congress Committee also paid glowing tributes to Former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary and described him as a revolutionary leader, who served the Nation to the best of his ability.
Paying tributes to Former Prime Minister G.A. Mir described Late. Lal Bahadur Shastri as a courageous leader, who remained committed to his stated position strengthening people irrespective of their caste, colour or creed.
Meanwhile similar function were held at District Headquarter Kupwara, which was presided over by DCC President Haji Farooq Mir in which senior party leaders and workers paid glowing tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and recalled his selfless services to the Nation.
