Army on Saturday said that two militants were killed after an infiltration bid was foiled along the Line of Control (LOC) in Machil sector of Kupwara district in north Kashmir.
An army spokesman told that army noticed suspicious movement of 2-4 militants at Gautam Post in Machil at around3:30am today. He said the movement was noticed near the LoC fence and on being challenged the militants opened fire on the soldiers, triggering an encounter.
He said in the exchange of gunfire, two militants were killed while two others are believed to have crossed over back to other side. The army, said the spokesman, recovered two AK 47 rifles, two pistols and other arms and ammunition near the encounter spot. “Day long searches were conducted throughout the area but so far no militant was found,” he added.
