‘Authorities ignoring plights of general public’.
As the government shifted the Batamaloo Bus stand to Parmipora, the Batmaloo Bus Stand Association (BBSA) Tuesday held a protest at Batamaloo here, alleging that the administration has blocked the roads leading to Bus stand.
The association members assembled at Batamaloo Bus stand here and chanted slogans like ‘we want justice’. They demanded that the re-shift of General Bus stand to Batamaloo from Parimpora.
The protesters said that the administration during an intervening night of Monday–Tuesday has blocked the roads leading towards General Bus stand by digging up the roads here. “The roads were blocked as the government wants to make the new Parimpora Bus stand functional. But the government by shifting the bus stand from Batamaloo to Parimpora has left hundreds of people to suffer,” they said.
They said that the travelers coming from various far-off areas have to face tremendous hardships to reach the commercial Hub Lal Chowk or Batamaloo for buying essentials from here. “Earlier, it was trouble-free for the travelers to reach the Lal Chowk or its adjacent places from the Batamaloo bus stand,” the protesting association members said.
The protesters said that the government has forcibly shifted the general bus stand to Parimpora here. “The government has disappointed everybody here by taking such extreme step, which also leaves hundreds of people to suffer,” the protesters said.
Meanwhile, the protesting members of the association later dispersed peacefully. (KNS)
