Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) General Secretary Nizamudin Bhat has expressed satisfaction over the arrangements being made by various departments to facilitate smooth observance of Eidul Zuha on September 2, 2017. He has also thanked Ministry of Hajj and Auqaf for ensuring all possible assistance to devotees from J&K State on Hajj Prilgimage.
Bhat said that administration has been fully geared by the Hon’ble Chief Minister to make available the essential commodities in adequate quantity and controlled rates. Wakf Board is lending due assistance for facilitating uninterrupted Eid prayers across the state on her directions.
Bhat said however there are, complaints from rural areas about scarcity of sugar and non-availability of drinking water. He said that since the supplies Ministry claims availability across the state, the administration should look into the complaints for immediate redressal.
He also sought immediate redressal for grievances about exorbitant rates for sheep and goat being sold in open market for “Qurbani”.
Bhat said poor and needy deserve support on this occasion and government has to ensure that social welfare department, labour department and other agencies for relief ensure that all pending cases for cash assistance are cleared on Eid eve. He said that finance department should keep surveillance and monitor the activities of treasuries and other implementing agencies in public interest.
Bhat hoped that while relief and supplies agencies should be bound to reach out to people on this occasion for satisfactory delivery, the departments of transport, electricity and health care should be made to do an extra-effort in utilizing the resource for public satisfaction. He expressed deep desire for observance of Eid befitting the objective of the occasion and prayed for peace in the state.
Bhat also made an appeal to government for release of detainees who have undergone protracted incarceration or diseased and minors or have been held for smaller offences, at least on Parole, as a goodwill gesture. He said jail inmates who cannot claim release on the occasion should get all support to observe Eid in jails as at home.
Bhat said it is the desire of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to heal the wounds of the people and administration should cooperate in fulfilling her agenda. He appreciated her, directions for release of wages to casual labour and daily wagers and her keen interest to facilitate smooth observance of Eid. (PTK)
