Intense clashes broke out between people and state government forces at many places in district Anantnag soon after the funeral prayers of slain HM militant, identified as Yawar Nisar, ended in which thousands of people participated.
agencies have learned that Yawar, amid pro-freedom and anti-India slogan, was laid to rest at his ancestral place in Achabal Adda in Anantnag town.
Soon after the funeral prayers clashes erupted at many places erupted which was retaliated with heavy tear smoke shells to disperse the protesting people by the state government forces.
However, intense clashes were going on in the district when this report was filed.
Only ten days old militant Yawar was killed at the hands of forces at Kanelwan, Bijbehara last night during an operation launched by police, 3 RR and CRPF 40/90 Bn.
Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed in Anantnag town and its peripheries against the Yawar’s killing.
All shops, business establishments and educational institutions are closed and public transport is off the roads.
