Army on Friday said that an Army patrol was subjected to heavy stone pelting by a “mob” and “stone pelters” tried to snatch weapons from the army patrol in Kondur village near Beerwah town in district Budgam today.
Defence spokesperson Rajesh Kalia in a statement said that in no time the numbers of “stone pelters” swelled and the intensity of stone pelting increased.
He said some stone pelters tried to close in with the patrol party and also tried to snatch the weapons from the soldiers.
He added that two persons were reportedly injured when troops opened fired, injuring one who later succumbed to his injuries.
