Hurriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Eid ul Fitr. Mirwaiz said that Eid is a day of thanksgiving to almighty Allah for his blessings and mercy upon us. He said I pray to Almighty Allah that may this Eid bring us happiness peace and deliverance from tyranny and occupation. He appealed to people to reach out to the needy and poor sections of society and help them.Mirwaiz said while remembering our Marty’s and their grieving families we should celebrate the occasion with austerity and simplicity and in keeping with the tenets of Islam
Meanwhile, Anjuman-e-Auqaf Jama Masjid Srinagar has announced that Eid ul-Fitr prayers would be held at per the program at the Historic Eidgah in Srinagar at 10:00 am. Prior to Eid prayers, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq would shed light on the philosophy of Eid al-Fitr in his sermon from 9:00 am.
AAJ has urged the people to participate in the Ijtima in large numbers to express unity and maintain discipline and bring prayer mats along.
AAJ also announced that Zakat al-Fitr (Sadqa Fitr) for this year has been fixed at Rs 50 per person that is mandatory to be paid before Eid al-Fitr prayers.
