Security forces burst teargas shells to disperse protestors in north Kashmir district of Bandipora, where four militants were killed today after Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) foiled a fidayeen attack on their camp.
Meanwhile, cellular services, including mobile internet, have been suspended in Sumbal and adjoining areas in Bandipora as a precautionary measure.
Hundreds of protestors took to streets at Sumbal and adjoining areas to protest the killing of militants in an encounter which ensued after soldiers of 45 Batallion foiled a fidayeen attack on their camp. The protests, who were shouting anti-forces and ‘pro-freedom’ slogans, were demanded that the bodies of the militants be handed over to them for last rites. However, security forces deployed in the area, burst teargas shells to disperse the demonstrators, who were regrouping and pelting stones.
Meanwhile, normal life was crippled at Sumbal and adjoining area as shops and business establishments were closed and traffic was off the roads against the killings.
