A complete shutdown was observed across Kashmir valley over the killing of three and a militant during a gunfight yesterday in Chadoora area of Budgam district.
They said public transport was minimal, while private cars, cabs, and auto rickshaws were plying in some areas of the city. All business establishments in major towns and Srinagar city were closed. Schools, colleges, office and all private institutes were also closed.
Meanwhile reports says that clashes broke out between protestors and security forces in Yaripora area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam after Slain Hizb Militant was laid to rest.
Thousands of people from different parts of south Kashmir reached to his ancestral village of Slain militant to attend his last rites. Eye witnesses told Press Trust of Kashmir that clashes erupted near police station Yaripora.
The reports of clashes were also received form Palhallan and Old town of Baramulla district in north Kashmir on.
According to reports that youth took to streets and clashes with forces deployed in the areas to register their protest against the three civilian killings in Chadoora area of Budgam yesterday.
Minor stone pelting was also from the Batamaloo area of Srinagar. However no reports of injuries were received so far.
Meanwhile the train services between Baramulla to Banihal town were also suspended by the authorities to avoid any untoward incident in view of the shutdown.
In view of the situation, the Kashmir University, Central University Kashmir and Islamic University of Science and Technology also postponed all examinations scheduled for today.
The shutdown call was giver by the Hurriyat conference against the killing of three youths identified as Zahid Rashid, Saqib Ahmad and Ashfaz Ahmad on Tuesday. A militant of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit Tawseef Wagay was killed in the Chadoora Gunbattle besides 30 people were injured during clashes near the encounter site. (PTK)
