‘Criminal silence adopted by state regarding massacre of Sikhs raises eyebrows’
Ahead of parliamentary polls, the Hurriyat spokesman has strongly condemned the house arrest of APHC Chairman of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, senior resistance leaders including Syed Ali Geelani and arrest of JKLF Chairman Yasin Malik and scores of Kashmiri youngsters from the length and breadth of Kashmir.
Terming such dictatorial measures taken by the government as a policy based on political vendetta, Hurriyat spokesman said that Kashmir has been turned into a police state wherein the government is shoring up all its efforts to spread sense of insecurity among the people of Kashmir. He said that government is hell bent to violate the human democratic and political values of resistance leadership and the Kashmiri people besides muzzling the voices demanding freedom by means of force and jackboot.
Asserting that Kashmiri resistance leadership was the true representation of Kashmir’s political aspirations, the hurriyat spokesman made it clear that by arresting or placing the leadership behind bars would not weaken the resolve and commitment of the leadership. He said tyrannical measures adopted by the government will not force the leadership and people to retreat from their demand of right to self determination; instead it will make the resolve to pursue such goals more firmer.
The spokesman has condemned the harassment and arrest of its activists including Farooq Ahmad Saudagar, Abdul Rashid Tanki, adding, the houses of G N Zaki, Sufi Mushtaq, Sahil Ahmad and others were raided. He also condemned the nocturnal raids in Srinagar and Pulwama during which dozens of people including a 45 year old man were arrested and put behind bars.
Meanwhile, the spokesman said APHC expresses its solidarity with the victims of Chittisinghpora massacre. He said like Chittisingh pora massacre, hundreds of other massacres committed in Kashmir should be investigated by independent bodies. Stressing that criminal silence adopted by the state regarding the massacre of Sikhs raises eyebrows, the spokesman appealed the international rights bodies to intervene to provide justice to the victims.
