Demands immediate redressal of their grievances
A severe electricity crisis has gripped in Barthana Qamarwari area of Srinagar and its adjourning areas, compelling people to take to the streets to protest against the power cuts. Every day the area witnessed 5 hour long power cut.
On Monday many people from the Qamarwari area complained that power supply remains off for hours daily. “Though our area is non-metered, the department goes for unscheduled and extended power cuts for hours. “Our area is facing several unscheduled power cuts. If power is not provided to us as per the schedule we will be left with no option other to protest on the streets,” said Shabir Ahmad of Barthana.
Another consumer Habibulah said that it is shocking that instead of ensuring regular power supply during the peak hours, the Power Development Department is resorting to forced cuts. ‘Every day and night we find ourselves in complete darkness. The electricity is playing hide and seek for the past few days,” he added.
“We are witnessing frequent power cuts.”
Another consumer, Mushtaq Ahmad from Barthana Qamarwari, said and added that we fail to understand why the authorities are not sticking to any schedule. (KNS)
