Education only potent means to ensure empowerment: Zulfkar

Highlighting the importance of education as a potent tool to ensure empowerment, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali today said every child in JK must be educated with stronger commitment.“Half of the problems could be addressed if the people are educated. People could come out of the poverty if they are educated and able to assert their rights”, he said.

Addressing a mammoth gathering after inaugurating building of High School Sankari here, the Minister said present age is an era of knowledge where education is the only potent route to fight poverty. “Government is focused on improving quality of education both at school and college levels and various initiatives have already been taken in this regard while many more are in the pipeline”, he said.

The Minister termed the government teachers as guardians of students. He asked them to work with dedication to equip the children with new hope of life and career. He appealed the parents to acknowledge their role in imparting free and compulsory education to their wards. “Each and every citizen has to realize the responsibility towards achieving universal education in the state”, he said.

Skill development, he said, is the need of the hour and should go hand in hand with normal education. “India is a country with diverse natural resources which have to be harnessed efficiently. It is only education that can make people realize the potential of these resources, he said.

Stressing the importance of developing scientific temper, Zulfkar said research and development as well as innovations have to be encouraged. He advised the students to replicate the successful models of companies like Google and Microsoft by fostering innovation.

Director FCS&CA Jammu G S Chib, Additional District Development Commissioner Rajouri, A S Chib, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Mumtaz Ali, Assistant Commissioner Development, Noor Alam, Executive Engineers of PHE Nissar Khan, PWD Sadeeq Wani, PDD Ashok Parihar, DSWO Dr Abdul Khabir, besides other district officers were present on the occasion.
