Former Unuion Minister and senior Congress leader, Prof Saifuddin Soz on Saturday said that the newly elected US president, DonaldTrump aspires to do things differently. “It will constitute a great worry for the entire world, but Americans have rightly started worrying,” Soz said.
In a statement issued to KNS, Soz said, “Fellow Kashmiris for a temporary change in routine let us discuss the Trump Effect today. It is not a situation far away from us. Unfortunately, one way or the other, it touches us directly.”
He said that it must be a great worry for Americans that the Trump, in that big chair, wants to negate every tenet of the philosophy that had made United States of America the most vibrant and transparent democracy of the world. “From George Washington to Thomas Jefferson to Abraham Lincoln to Barak Obama, Trump aspires to do things differently. It will constitute a great worry for the entire world, but Americans have rightly started worrying,” Soz added.
“I beg your pardon, at the moment; I am worried for another dreadful situation. Donald Trump is going to refuse to accept Climate Change as a reality!,” he added.
He said that it was after strenuous efforts of Europe and countries like India and knowledgeable individuals like Algore (Vice President with Bill Clinton) that the American public opinion had finally veered round with Bill Clinton, Barak Obama and other stalwarts among the Democrats that Climate Change was a great worry for mankind and America accepted that Emissions had to be reduced to save mankind from extremely dangerous effects of Global Warming.
“Some Americans allege that Trump wants to promote the interest of General Motors, Oil Companies and countless Gun Factories of America!,” Soz said.
“Fellow Kashmiris, I would like to tell you why we should be particularly worried. In my opinion, Kashmir is a laboratory for measuring the adverse effects of Climate Change. I would request you kindly to take notice as to what is happening with us. In my childhood and adulthood (the generation of youngsters can ask their elders) there were heaps of snow and snow that fell in December and January melted away gradually by May!,” he said.
He said, “Now imagine, very recently we got some snow in January and by the time I am saying something on this, the snow has melted away in the valley except the mountainous areas, because of Warmth in the Earth. Imagine, it is for years that we have not noticed the swallow (Katij), Sparrow is hardly seen these days and Bee-Hives are fast vanishing, and see, it is for years that we didn’t have Tsonth!.”
“Honest to God, I am considerably worried. We should also be doing something in small measures. This matter needs some debate,” Soz said.
