In assembly today MLA Langate Er. Rasheed opposed a resolution moved by Omer Abdullah asking for return of Kashmiri Pandits who had left valley in 1989.
In a statement issued to PTK Er. Rasheed said that since no Kashmiri is opposed to return of Pandits thus there is no need to pass a resolution and if Omer Abdullah or Mehbooba Mufti is really so concerned about return of migrants, they should speak about those migrants also who were forced to migrate to other side of LOC in Keran, Karnah, Uri, Ponch, Gurez and other parts by the atrocities of security forces. He also lashed out at Omer Abdullah for forgetting about fate of the resolution passed for the restoration of Autonomy and said that just passing resolutions is of no use unless Govt. doesn’t show the required maturity, sincerity, seriousness, practicality and commitment over serious issues.
Er. Rasheed said that the resolution adopted gives a sense as if Kashmiri Pandits were forced to migrate by majority community, and if nobody opposes their return what is the fun of passing the resolution. Besides it is a known fact that Kashmiri Pandits do visit valley on and often and also their ancestral places as such it is their choice when they decide to settle permanently at their ancestral places.
He asked Omer Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti that would either of them like to inform the house that how many times these two leaders have met during past eight years to discuss the very serious issues including return of Kashmiri Pandits.
“The resolution is nothing but an act of appeasement to Kashmiri Pandits and to give a notion that the issue of return of migrant Pandits is the only burning issue”. He added. (PTK)
