Terming the attitude of police as ‘callous and inhuman’, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik Saturday said that yesterday what happened in Pulwama was ‘state sponsored terrorism’ of police and forces that without any provocation started shelling and cane charging peaceful people injuring about two dozen people.
It is worth to mention here that Incarcerated chairman JKLF Muhammad Yasin Malik who along with three others was arrested in Pulwama yesterday was last night shifted to central jail Srinagar.
According to the spokesman, “After arresting him in injured condition at 2:30 pm Pulwama police kept him without even water for about ten hours and shifted him and others to central jail at 12:30 in the night.”
Meanwhile, Malik according to the statement in a message sent from jail said that the unprovoked shelling by police was so harsh that he felt unconscious and breathlessness and had Javed Ahmad Butt, Shabir Ahmad Nengru and Nazir Ahmad Butt not provided him help he would have fallen on ground.
JKLF chairman said, “Even the three who helped him on that occasion are being now punished for providing help and have been put behind bars by police.”
Malik said that the protest program was fully peaceful and it was police and forces that unilaterally without any provocation waged a war against peaceful people which is highly condemnable.
Terming police stations as ‘Abu Gareeb type torture centers’, JKLF chairman said that terrorizing common people, unleashing oppression on youth, humiliating young, old and women especially the families of incarcerated youth has become a hallmark of Police and this attitude is pushing our new generation to the wall and hence promoting worst kind of violence in Jammu Kashmir.
He said that in these months of extreme cold, hundreds of young and old are being kept in police stations without basic necessities of life. “Even their families are being humiliated and tortured by police, which is highly condemnable,” added JKLF chairman.
He said that the rulers and their police should bear in mind that tyranny and oppression has not and can never suppress the voices of people for long and according to the law of retribution they will have to answer for their crimes against humanity.
Meanwhile, the spokesman said that martyrdom day of veteran JKLF ideologue Shaheed-I-Danish professor Abdul Ahad Wani was observed today and a prayers meeting was held at JKLF office on the occasion.
Malik said that Wani was a multitalented personality who through his exemplary wisdom and unparallel sacrifices achieved a high place in the history of Jammu Kashmir. “People like him add to the glory of nations,” he said.
While recalling the struggle and sacrifices rendered by Wani, JKLF chairman said, “Intellectuals and thinkers like Shaheed professor Abdual Ahad Wani are like a jewel in the crown of nations and whenever history of Kashmir will be written Shaheed professor Wani’s name will be remembered with great honor and dignity.”
He said that Wani led Kashmiri nation on legal, political, social and diplomatic fronts. “On diplomatic front he led this nation before the international community and surprised everyone with his wisdom, vision and intellect.”
A condolence meeting and Majlis I Quran Khawani was held today at JKLF headquarters in which senior JKLF leaders and activists including Mir Siraj ud din, sheikh Abdul Rashid, Zahoor Ahmad Butt, Muhammad Sideeq Shah and professor Javed participated in this congregational prayers meeting and paid rich tributes to Wani and others.
