Students to be given 25-30 %percent relaxation in syllabus, say officials
The under graduate (BG) 3rd year students on Saturday staged protests against the Kashmir University (KU) authorities for issuing “flawed” date sheet for their exams scheduled from January 10, next year.
The students assembled at the Press Enclave in Srinagar to protest against the KU authorities for issuing “flawed” date sheet for their examinations.
“The date sheet issued by KU authorities has many flaws. We have been given only one day break between different subjects in science stream,” the protesting students said.
They said KU authorities should issue revised date sheet for 3rd year students and give some relaxation in syllabus as well.
“As per the already issued date sheet, our exams will complete with 10-12 days. We have just one day break between subjects. KU should provide some relaxation in our syllabus as well,” the aggrieved students said.
The students said their session started in mid week of May this year and later their colleges remained closed in wake of the unrest that erupted in 1st week of July. “We have attended our classes for less than two months and have completed only 10-20 percent of our syllabus,” the students said.
The students accused their respective college authorities of misinforming the KU authorities regarding the completion of syllabus of students. “We have attended classes for less than two months and it is not possible to complete 80 -90 percent syllabus in such a short span of time. Our college authorities are hell bent to ruin our career,” the students said.
Meanwhile, a top official in Kashmir University said the authorities have already decided to provide 25-30 percent relaxation in syllabus for 3rd year students.
“The official announcement will be made in a day or two,” the official said.
About the relaxation in gap between the papers, the official said, “The students should have first approached controller examination with their representation regarding the issue. Varsity will consider it if merit is found in it.”
