State High Court in a significant order has directed state Government through its Chief Secretary, Home Secretary and DG Police to ensure free movement and political activities of AIP Supremo and MLA Langate Er. Rasheed.
It is worth to mention that after state police deported Er. Rasheed on frequent occasions from Chinab Valley and Pir Panjal regions during last two years and didn’t allowed him to enter these areas, Er. Rasheed had filed a writ petition in the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir accusing state police of violating his fundamental rights and seeking state high courts intervention in the matter for restoration of his rights. While additional Advocate General Bashir Ahmad Dar pleaded the case on behalf of Govt., Er. Rasheed himself pleaded the case regularly before the Hon’ble High Court.
The order passed by Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir reads “Petitioner being a sitting member of the legislative assembly and a political figure has every right to move throughout country, particularly in the state of J&K, therefore, respondents are under legal obligation to ensure that the free movement of the petitioner like other political activities is not curtailed. It is also duty of the respondents to take care of the security concerns if any of the petitioner”.
Party spokesman welcomed the court order and said that the order is vindication of our stand and expressed the desire that AIP will try to reach out more effectively in every area of Jammu province, to represent their political sentiments and aspirations. (PTK)
