Reviews Security, Law and order situation in Kashmir
The policemen posted in police stations or deployed for checking and frisking duties should behave politely with the complainants and people in general by bringing in some attitudinal changes. This was stated by the Special DGP Coordination, Law & order Dr. S.P Vaid at a meeting of the District Police Chiefs of the Kashmir Zone organised to review the law and order and security situation in the Kashmir valley. The meeting was also attended by Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, SJM Gillani, DIG, Central Kashmir, G.H Bhat, DIG, North Kashmir, Uttam Chand and DIG, South Kashmir, Nitish Kumar.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Vaid impressed upon the District SsP to brief and hone the soft skills of the policemen and officers dealing with the public.
While reviewing the law & order situation in the valley SDGP complimented the policemen and the officers for handling the situation and added that a lot remains to be done till complete normalcy is restored in the valley.
He impressed upon the officers to discourage the use of force while dealing with the law & order situations and emphasised on maximum restraint till the possible extent.
Referring to the weapon snatching incidents of the recent past the Dr Vaid, directed the District SsP to continue with intensive checking of the guards so as to eradicate such incidents completely.
With regard to fight against militancy SDGP, impressed upon the officers to work in tandem with all the security forces and agencies. He also called for creating specific goals in all the districts and areas and work relentlessly to towards these goals.
IGP Kashmir S.J.M Gillani gave a detailed briefing regarding the overall security scenario and law and order situation in the Kashmir Valley. He enumerated the measures taken by the Kashmir police to minimize the number of incidents with regard to law and order. He also highlighted the strategy adopted to continue fight against the militancy more vigorously.
The DIsG and District SsP gave PowerPoint presentations while discussing the overall security and law and order situations of their respective districts. (PTK)
