Clashes erupted in a Shopian village after government forces raided the residence of a Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) activist on Monday.
Reportedly government forces including police and CRPF men raided the residence of Mohammad Yousuf Fallahi in Muloo village of the south district.
Fallahi is the district president of Syed Ali Geelani led TeH and is evading arrest since July this year despite several police raids.
He is accused of leading pro-freedom rallies and protest marches.
As soon as the forces party started raiding Fallahi’s residence, locals came out of their homes and started protesting against what they called force’s highhandedness.
Forces resorted to tear smoke shelling to disperse the protesters resulting in clashes.
