With cabinet reshuffle and inclusion of some new faces on cards most likely soon after the government shifts to winter capital Jammu, the BJP workers in Kashmir have been pressuring its top leadership to remove Peoples Conference chief Sajjad Gani Lone from the cabinet berth, sources disclosed.
According to well places sources, the BJP state leadership has held several meetings with its local leadership and district and block level leaders, who have made it very clear to the party command that they want a Kashmiri BJP leader to be elevated to cabinet replacing PC leader Sajjad Lone.
“Why do we need Lone in the cabinet from BJP quota? It serves no purpose to us. He doesn’t know even a single BJP worker. BJP Kashmir leadership has conveyed to top command to elevate a Kashmiri BJP leader to Cabinet. It has been enough of Lone,” sources said.
However, sources said that there has been no instant assurance from the state top leadership to their workers. The workers have been instead asked that their demand would conveyed to New Delhi and then only the state leadership would be in a position to make things clear only after getting any signal from central leadership about replacing Sajjad Lone with any Kashmiri BJP face.
Meanwhile, a senior BJP insider said that the party workers have given candid account on some serious issue of working of ministers and connectivity of BJP ministers with their workers and people in Kashmir. “There is a dire need of at least one Kashmiri minister in BJP quote,” they said.
