Police Monday said that 15 accused allegedly involved in arson and torching of private vehicles have been arrested while 7 accused are still evading the arrest.
Addressing a news conference here in Srinagar, Deputy Inspector General Central Kashmir Range Ghulam Hasan Bhat said that out of 22, fifteen accused have been arrested by police who according to him were responsible for torching a dozen vehicles from past three months.
The torched vehicles included Sumos, Auto Rickshaws, Scooty, Road Roller and motorcycles that according to Bhat were set ablaze in different parts of capital city Srinagar including Parimpora, Soura, Batamaloo, Nawab Bazar, Saida Kadal, Baba Demb, Gojwara, Nowshera and Bemina.
DIG Central Kashmir Range identified the incarcerated accused as Mohsin Zahoor Mir and Zaid alias Raju both residents of Parimpora, Faizan Afzal Beigh of Awanta Bhavan,
Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Altaf Ahmad Dar and Showkat Ahmad resdients of Firdous Abad Batamaloo, Zahid Ahmad Sheikh Sheikh of Danderkhah Batamaloo, Ishfaq Nabi Sheikh of Kaksathoo, Nawab Bazar, Junaid Ahmad and Aqib Ahmad of M.R. Gunj, Shadab Hassan Godyari, Sarfaraz Ahmad Sheikh, Ramiz Ahmad Matoo of Gojwara.
DIG was flanked by SSP Srinagar Amit Kumar who also shared details about various incidents with the reporters.
