A Special Police Officer (SPO) of Jammu and Kashmir Police was stoned to death in Billawar tehsil of Kathua district, following an old rivalry.
Police said that SPO Himmat Kumar, was posted at TCP Phinter Chowk where he was trapped and murdered by two youths by using blunt objects and stones over some old dispute.
Police said that the SPO was attacked by the two youths with stones and blunt objects when he was performing his routine duty at TCP Phinter Chowk last night.
“Two youths over some old rivalry reached the Phinter Chowk and over powered the SPO. Later, one of them attacked him with stones and other blunt objects available there till he died,” police said.
Leaving the body there, police said, both the accused fled from the spot. Immediately, police launched a manhunt and one of the accused was arrested.
Meanwhile a case under FIR Number 101 under section 302 and 34 of RPC has been registered against them.
Police have started searches to arrest one of the absconding accused persons. The accused persons have been identified as Naresh Bhadwal son of Satpal of Pinter and Lalotra son of Om Parkash of Pinter in Billawar.
