Six students were injured in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Saturday after government forces resorted to teargas shelling to break up a rally of students protesting against the examination scheduled recently announced by the government.
Reports and witnesses said that students, including females, staged a rally in Kawoosa – Khalisa area and marched towards Srinagar-Gulmarg highway.
However, forces deployed on the highway allegedly resorted to teargas shelling and pellet firing to chase away the students. This triggered clashes, in which at least half a dozen students were injured. The students were shouting pro-freedom and anti-government slogans during the protests.
