Reports said that people took to streets in Mazhama against alleged vandalism carried out by the government forces.
Massive clashes erupted in Mazhama area of Magam in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Sunday, even as curfew was imposed in neighboring Narbal and Kawoosa areas to prevent “Narbal chalo” called by resistance leadership. Reports said that people took to streets in Mazhama against alleged vandalism carried out by the government forces.
Forces fired teargas shells to disperse the protesters, triggering intense clashes in Sofi Mohalla of Mazhama village. Late night clashes were reported from Kanihama and Mazhama villages of the district.
Meanwhile, authorities have imposed strict curfew in Kawoosa and Narbal areas to thwart proposed Narbal Chalo call. Barricades have been places near Chinar Colony Kawoosa and Narbal Crossing while the Srinagar-Gulmarg highway has been closed for vehicular movement.
