Authorities have evacuated thousands of people within six miles of the de facto border with Pakistan as a precautionary measure after “surgical strikes”, reports said on Friday.
The strikes were the first direct military response to an attack on an army base, and raised the possibility of military escalation between the neighbours that could wreck the 2003 ceasefire.
As per reports evacuation was still on in the areas coming near to the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) with Pakistan.
The evacuation, which is taking place at a time when harvesting season is at its peak, is sure to hit the people living near the LoC and IB as agriculture is their main resource.
