District authorities Friday morning started evacuating people living near the Line of Control (LoC) in Gurez area of the north district in the back drop of tension between India and Pakistan and any cross firing along the defacto border.
Sources in the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora’s office told Rising Kashmir that local administration has been directed to evacuate people whose houses are situated near the LoC and remain under threat of cross firing.
“We have already identified some school buildings in Bandipora area to temporary shelter those coming from Gurez ,” they said adding “some people have already reached the district headquarter and some are on way”.
Local sources in Gurez said that hundreds of people spent last night outside their houses in comparatively safer places to prevent themselves from any border skirmishes between India and Pakistan.
