It was really a proud moment when the people of Kashmir celebrated recent Eid-ul-Azha with great austerity and simplicity. It was tribute to all those who were killed and maimed in Kashmir since July 08, 2016. So far 90 people have been killed and 12000 injured in the current uprising of Kashmir which started after the killing of HM Commander Burhan Wani along with his two associates in an encounter at Bamdoora area of Kokernag hamlet. More than 700 people including children and women have lost their vision in one eye or both which has darkened their lives. Present Kashmir is in a state of mourning.
Everyone is dejected and anguished. Every soul is in pain and every eye is in tears. There is no room for any kind of celebration currently in Kashmir. These days even marriage ceremonies are solemnized with great simplicity. Most of the weddings are organised without famous Kashmiri cuisine ‘WAZWAN’ and guests are served with a simple Kashmiri tea called ‘KEHWA’. There is no sound of traditional Kashmiri music (GHAWUN) anywhere in Kashmir. Nowadays, there is no pomp and show on the arrival of newborn babies. Words are too less to describe the present misery of Kashmiris. The whole Kashmir is in a pall of gloom.
As Eid-ul-Ghadeer falls on 21st September, 2016 (Wednesday), like Eid-ul-Azha, it should also be celebrated with utmost austerity and simplicity. There should be no festive meals or exchange of gifts. Extravagance of anything should be avoided. All Kashmiris particularly Shia brethren should organise special prayers for all the departed souls of current uprising and should also pray for the fast recovery of injured persons. Special congregations should be organised where Duá Nudba should be recited and a strong message should be sent out that Shias and Sunnis are always united against any oppression.
