Amid ongoing unrest across the Kashmir valley where every business has come to a halt, some big private schools have asked parents to deposit fee despite no class work since July 9.The present unrest started in Kashmir from July 9 following the death of Hizibul Mujahideen Commander Burhan Wani while schools were already closed for summer vacations from June15.
After nearly two months of unrest, parents have been asked to deposit the fee online and through different bank accounts. One such SMS from a top private school reads “Please deposit fee online or in the account number.”Irked by the move, Manzoor Ahmad, a parent said, “From past 73 days there is no internet access and the banks are not functioning properly here, so how can we deposit fees.”The schools not only ask the parents to deposit the tuition fees but have asked them to pay transport fee also. “Everybody knows that there was no transport plying on the roads since the unrest started still the schools asks us to pay the fee along with transport charges. This is a sheer injustice,” lamented a group of parents.
A parent whose ward is enrolled in one of the top private schools of the valley, said that these schools are always eyeing money and are not bothered about the educational standards. “Amid these circumstances there priority should have been how to complete the already delayed syllabus but unfortunately, that is not their priority list.”
