Taking serious note of police action against the people of Chenab Valley, Pir Panchal, Kishtwar, Rajouri, Bhaderwah, Doda, and Reasi and forces’ atrocities on them, the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) on Tuesday said “we will not leave alone our brethren and are with them”.
In a statement issued to PTK, DFP general secretary Moulana Abdullah Tari termed the booking of Islamic clerics, teachers, and others under sedition in Chenab Valley as “anti-human” saying such acts are aimed at keeping them away from freedom movement.
At least 18 persons from Chenab Valley have been booked under sedition for staging protests on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha. These people include two government teachers and Islamic clerics from Kishtwar.
Some of the persons who have been framed in the FIR are Imam Umar Mollah Masjid and pro-freedom leader Abdul Qayoom Mattoo and Imam Bunastan Masjid Qari Manzoor Ahmed Ganaie, Saif-ud-Baghwan son of Abdul Jabbar Baghwan, resident of Baghwan Mohallah Kishtwar.
Moulana Tari said the people of Jammu, Pir Panchal, and Chenab Valley are part of the freedom struggle and to protest on Eid doesn’t tantamount to sedition. “Such black laws have been condemned by the international bodies and authorities by resorting to such mean acts cannot break the spirit and resolve of the people. We salute the people of Jammu for their contribution to the freedom struggle. They always stood with Kashmiris since 1947,” he said.
Terming the PSAs on youths as cruel, Moulana said jails and interrogation centers are not new for us but those who used to preach ‘battle of ideas’ got exposed and now don’t even muster courage to face the people.
He said as per reports, every police station has been converted into a jail while making it clear that even if whole population is caged, the freedom movement will continue.
Meanwhile, party’s incarcerated chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah and general secretary Moulana Tari have expressed grief over the demise of the mother of Late Mirwaiz Qazi Nisar and extended condolence and solidarity with the bereaved family. They also prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
