National Conference Monday said that Uri terror attack may be a ‘conspiracy’ and its timing is ‘suspicious’ because it coincided with Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif heading to the UN General Assembly to talk about ‘human rights violations’ in Kashmir.
“Such things have happened in past in Kashmir and we all know how innocent Sikhs were butchered in Chattisinghpora village in South Kashmir in March 2000 when the then United States President Bill Clinton was scheduled to visit India. There is a vast network of Indian security agencies in Kashmir and we can’t deny this fact that Uri attack may be a conspiracy to foil Pakistan’s attempts to raise Kashmir issue at United Nations,” Additional General Secretary National Conference Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal told news agency CNS adding that the irony is that without any proof some people from India pointed fingers at Pakistan even while the URI attack was under way.
“A section of people in New Delhi has become very active ever since BJP assumed charge of country which thrives on anti-Pakistan stand. This section doesn’t want peaceful relations between India and Pakistan and leave no stone-unturned in defaming Pakistan. It is irony and shocking that without any concrete evidence and proof India started blaming Pakistan for the Uri attack and it depicts the mentality of such section of ‘pseudo-nationalistic’ people. International community doesn’t believe in such rhetoric but needs and demands concrete proof,” Kamal said.
He said that it is the ‘intelligence failure’ of India if it continuously blames Pakistan for sending infiltrators to this part of Kashmir. “What the Intelligence agencies are doing and why despite spending vast sums of money on border guards, it has failed to curb infiltration. On the one hand India says it has armed its army with sophisticated weapons and has sealed the border while on the other hand it blames Pakistan for infiltration. This is something that is shocking and strange,” Kamal, the former Minister said.
He asked India to reveal the identity of four ‘Fidayeens’ killed in Uri attack. “Why they (India) don’t reveal their identity. After every attack, be it the attack in Kaluchek Jammu the identity of the ‘Fidayeen’ is kept a secret,” Kamal said.
National Conference leader blamed BJP for inciting people of the country against Pakistan. “This BJP government doesn’t want peaceful and cordial relations with Pakistan. Due to the ‘terrible’ anti-Pakistan policies pursued by BJP, people of Kashmir have been suffering and no efforts are being made to give a respite to the people of Kashmir who are up in arms against Indian ‘misrule’ in Kashmir,” Kamal said.
Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal expressed grief over the casualties in Uri attack and said that killing of every human is barbaric and no civilized man can justify it.
