“We had inputs about presence of militants in the area,” SP Pulwama told , “we went to the area for anti-militant operation.”
SRINAGAR : A police man who says he was fortunate to be at home in Karimabad on Sunday when multi-force raid took place, alleged the state government has declared war on the people.
He said he lost his three family cars, his house was vandalized as he barely managed rescuing his family out of suffocation enforced by massive use of tear-smoke and other shells.
“I do not think a human being can normally do what they did here,” the cop told. “Almost ten homes belonging to the cops were specially targeted.”
The police man said that there was neither any call for a protest or a plan for procession. “I do not know why the 100 vehicles entered our village during wee hours and what was the objective other than sending half of the village to the hospital?” he asked.
He said after the raids were carried out, the entire belt assembled in Karimabad. “There is anger everywhere and the people are being forced to react,” he said. “I do not know to which direction are we being pushed?”
The cop said his profession makes him especially insecure within and outside home. “I do not know what I should do? Should I kill my family?” he asked.
A huge caravan of cops, CRPF and the army drove to Karimabad village in Pulwama during wee hours today and started attacking the residents.
As they started damaging houses and the property, the locals reacted.
In retaliation, the cops opened fire, showered pellets and burst tear smoke shells. So far, more than 100 people are injured of whom 16 are in various Srinagar hospitals. A few have bullet injuries too.
