Decision on release of detained separatists awaited on Eid eve
The authorities are yet to take a final call over release of the separatist leaders presently placed either under house detentions or lodged in police locks up. Meanwhile, authorities has detained 1400 people, imposed Public Safety Act (PSA) on 175 and
registered 235 cases so far.
Sources said that the separatist leaders facing housing detention include Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Agha Syed Hassan (Hurriyat G) and Advocate Muhammad Shafi Reshi. Those arrested include Hurriyat (M) Chairmam Mirwaiz Molvi Umar Farooq lodged at Cheshmashahi
Sub Jail and JKLF Chairman Yasin Malik, Mohd Ashraf Seharai, Ayaz Akbar, Altaf shah, Noor Mohd Kalwal, Showkat Bakshi-all lodged at officers mess at P/S Humhama, Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah lodged at P/S Rajbah, Mehraj ud Din Kalwal lodged at P/S Nowgam, Peer saifullah presently in custody at SKIMS Soura, Zaffar Akbar Bhat lodged at P/S sadder, Bilal Sidiqui (Tehreek-e-Mazahamat), Advocate Zahid Ali (Jamat-e-Islami) and Bashir Andrabi all lodged at Central Jail Srinagar.
The authorities are yet to take a final call on the release of all the above mentioned separatist leaders on the eve of forthcoming Eid ul azaha but is seriously considering the slapping of PSA on 235 others already taken into police custody, said sources. So far the authorities, sources said, has arrested 1400 people.
During the current phase of unrest so far 10,000 civilians and 4000 uniformed men have
been injured, sources added.
