At least ten persons sustained injuries after government forces fired tear smoke shells and pellets on people who were gearing up to hold a freedom rally at Dooru area of the north Kashmir town on Saturday.
Reports and sources said people were preparing to hold a freedom rally at during which a huge contingent of government forces arrived at the venue and resorted to tear smoke shelling and pellet firing to disperse the people and bar them from holding the programme.
They said that forces also vandalised the venue.
The freedom programme was proposed near Government High school Duroo.
“We were erecting tents and arranging other things. In between police and CRPF came and fired tear gas shells and pellets in which more than ten people were injured,” said a local.
