An eight-member group from Kargil that called on the all-party delegation in Srinagar on Monday has rejected the Union Territory status for Ladakh division and called for unconditional dialogue with separatists to resolve the Kashmir issue and bring peace in the region.
The delegation has submitted a memorandum in which they have appealed the Government of India to initiate unconditional dialogue with all stakeholders in the Valley, including Hurriyat Conference.
“The (Kashmir) issue is political, not an issue of packages,” they told the visiting delegates.
Expressing solidarity with the people of Kashmir, the delegation has also rejected the Union Territory status for Ladakh.
The leaders demanded strengthening of the Article 370 and voiced for equal rights to people in Ladakh.
The delegation comprised the members of Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust, Islamia School Kargil, Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat Kargil, LAHDC Kargil and Opposition Congress leaders were also present.
The Buddhist leaders from Zanaskar, Tsering Angdus and Skalzang Wangyal weren’t part of the delegation.
