Mehbooba Mufti who resigned from the Congress and gave up her assembly seat to float a platform, only to raise her parties voice, against the alleged misdeeds and failure of the ruling party, is now seeking to use and implement the anti-incumbency factor to her advantage. The way she resigned to win the favour of public was seen in the recent elections, that her party over powered the National Conference, but now once in power she is denying that her party is responsible for the death’s of 90 innocent civilians, her statements were harsh, and unacceptable by all, and unfortunate enough to look into sensitivity of the present crisis. Her over confidence made her very lose to look into the matter seriously, till it erupted like floods, the time had gone and out of her control.
Many who voted her party never expected that she would join hands with the communist party BJP, even till her father was alive and Chief Minister of State, the things were not going good but Mufti somehow was able to reel it and in control of the situation. But after his death, the situation was not same, 40 days of Governor rule, and internal difference between her counter parts, unwilling again accepted to run the government with BJP.
The aggressive agitation that started after the death of Burhan Muzaffar Wani, and it’s aftermath is seen and not to be ignored. All ministers spoke to protect and counter the ongoing happenings, except Tariq Ahmad Karra, who seems to be silent spectator of all the situation.
Now the situation has crossed the banks of river, with nobody able to stop the strong waves of anger and aggressive agitation floating from all sides.
The elements and agencies started to gear up as soon the agitation started, after having failed to create sectarian wedge and violence in restive Kashmir as it is heard by sources, miscreants are fueling now Sher-Bakra divide, by deviding the people on an another front. To clear it, who don’t know this, Sher are staunch supporters of National Conference, while Bakra connoted supporters of Mirwaiz’s family. The young generation who does know about this story, decades ago before 90’s sher and bakra fights were frequently on and off, and common scene, on the political turf of Srinagar, that used to take place in old city know as sher-i-khas.
But after turmoil everyone had forgotten this, and pause button was pressed, such rivalries used to be very dangerous and had claimed many lives in the past. The residents of downtown areas have said some forces are deployed and engaged to initiate the new beginning to give birth to this, to create and divert people from an ongoing movement. The episodes took place in Soura, outside the gates of hospital, when some bakras tried to stop people from entering the hospital who were of National Conference followers. Even as per reports two youths were held by locals who were instigating the issue, youths apologized the locals and said we were misguided.
But still it is a matter of concern, this issue cannot put under the lid to be covered. Regarding this, some prevention measures should be taken, not to be left unattended, till it catches fire, it is better to nip the evil in the bud.
Here, to be candid enough, anything can happen to change the scenario of the situation, agencies can go to any extent, as history is witness, you can change the minds of Kashmiris, and time, as they are easily carried away. Hope this may not happen.
