The Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) general secretary Moulana Abdullah Tari today lashed out at government for state-wide arrests and crackdown on religious parties, their leaders and activists.
In a statement issued to PTK, Tari said the religious parties of the State have played a great role in the freedom movement. “We are not in favour of separation of religion from politics but unanimously fight for the cause of freedom,” he said.
Condemning the raid on Jama’at-e-Islami head office and arrest of its spokesperson Advocate Zahid Ali, Tari said though such acts are not new for us but now the puppet administration is now concerned over the role played by religious organisations and is targeting them.
“The so-called government had issued warning to the religious scholars and speakers against speaking in favour of Azadi but the so-called rulers forgot that Islam doesn’t surrender to anyone’s dictations, instead, calls for raising voice against the oppression. The role played by our religious parties is encouraging,” he said.
Moulana Tari also condemned the arrest of Jama’at-e-Islami’s 74-year-old leader Sheikh Muhammad Yousuf and Dr Ghulam Muhammad Hubi saying the rulers have resorted to arbitrary arrests.
On the state-wide arrest spree, DFP general secretary said history is witness to the fact that no nation has surrendered after being subjected to coercive tactics, intimidation, and use of brute force by oppressors. “India too achieved independence from Britain and it doesn’t befit such a nation to turn a heaven-like territory into a hell,” he said.
Hailing the spirit of youth, Moulana said we are committed to the freedom movement and have pledged not to budge an inch from our demand (of Azadi) even if India cages each and every soul of Kashmir.
He urged the religious organisations to continue their role with same spirit and connect with people on grassroots levels to take the freedom movement to its logical end.
