The JKPCC has opposed any move to induct political persons in the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and describe it as a ill-conceived idea which could open Pandora box in this sensitive State.
JKPCC Chief Spokesperson in a statement criticized any such move aimed at satisfying the interest of few ambitious party men by the BJP, which would set a wrong precedent and open a Pandora box in this sensitive state.
He said that Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board since its constitution in 1986 has done the most commendable task, headed by the Governor, to cater to the requirements of the time.
“The yatra rose from 14 lacs to over one crore over this period besides establishing other institutions. It has remained free from political interference and involvement all these 30 years but the interests of BJP and few other leaders has prevailed upon the party to initiate this ill-advised move, which is totally against the interest of pilgrims and future generations to come. The MPs/MLAs have other highly empowered institutions to raise their voice and concerns and asked the Govt. to desist from any such move fraught with serious consequences,” the party said.
