Castigating the state authorities for launching a major crackdown on people wherein more than 2500 persons from across the Valley particularly in south Kashmir have been arrested, the Chairman Islamic Political Party – JK Mohammad Yousuf Naqash said this is an open war against the people of the State.
In a statement issued here, he expressed deep anguish and grief over the killing of a youth, Danish Manzoor, of Nadihal village of Rafiabad, Sopore who was shot at by Army while condemning the police detention and continuous arrest of pro-freedom leadership including veteran leader Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrahi,Shabir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Hakeem Abdul Rashid, Bilal Sidiqui, Noor Mohammad Kalwal, Peer Saifullah, Ayaz Akbar, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Javaid Ahmad Mir, and other leaders and activists.
Naqash said police has broken all records of tyranny by cracking down on own people which is shameful. He said the so-called government which continues to make huge claims of democracy and freedom of expression has resorted to vengeful means by carrying out arrests of people who are dragged out from their homes.
“The police must not forget that it has to face the wrath of people sooner or later. They have made the life of people a hell,” he said.
He vehemently slammed police for raiding the Jamaat-e-Islami head office in Batamaloo wherein party’s political bureau chief Advocate Zahid Ali was arrested, and launching a major crackdown on Jamaat leaders and activists from last few days during which many Jamaat scholars were arrested.
“As this was not enough, many including a Hurriyat leader Dr G M Hubi have been booked under PSA and several including Dr Hubi have been shifted to Kot Balwal Central Jail, Jammu,” he said.
The Hurriyat leader condemned the attacks on residential houses by Indian forces and police who forcibly enter houses during night and ransack the properties besides harass the inmates. “If anyone argues, they pick up the youths from the houses. This has affected the people psychologically and now they don’t feel safe even in their homes. This is the height of oppression,” he said.
Naqash said our freedom movement has entered into such a decisive phase where we direly need steadfastness to combat the state-sponsored oppression. “India and its puppets should not forget that Kashmiris have pledged not to rest or succumb till they take their movement to its end. The terrifying tactics won’t help them in any way. We are strong in our resolve,” he said.
