51 days of longest curfew ends only to be re-imposed
The longest ever curfew in the history of Kashmir of 51 days was relaxed on Mondaymorning and was re-imposed again at various places after people hit the streets and pelted stones.
The government’s move back-lashed and it was forced to re-impose curfew in various sensitive areas where it was lifted as a trial to test the waters.
The curfew was re-imposed in uptown Batamaloo, Chota Bazar, and the whole of Old-City which is the bastion of pro-freedom movement.
Following an improvement in the situation, authorities had announced there would be no restrictions across Valley from except in the main town Pulwama and the areas falling under the jurisdictions of Police Station M R Gunj and Police Station Nowhatta in Srinagar.
A government spokesman said the Valley was largely peaceful on Sunday, barring a few incidents of stone-throwing in south Kashmir.
